MEMORANDUM FOR
Mr. Tim Bregenzer, Link® Tools International (USA), Inc.,
2440 North Lakeview Ave, Chicago IL 60614
SUBJECT: Evaluation of LINK® Tool System.
1. The Iowa Army National Guard has evaluated an assortment of LINK Tools. The
tools are 3/8 inch and ¼ inch drive tools. They are designed to work with all
existing socket sets in those sizes.
2. These tools have a very unique feature that used a patented locking system at
every connection. This feature lets the mechanic push onto the socket or any
connection, automatically locking it upon the LINK tool.
3. The benefits of the LINK Tools follow:
a. The entire line of LINK Tools features this locking system at every
connection.
b. The assortment of tools is every style. There are ratchets, breaker bars,
sliding “T” bars, extensions; a spinner extension called a UniDriver®. There
also are palm wrench/speeders, universal joints and brace style speeders.
|
c. The locking mechanical action was the ideal means to keep a rather
complicated assembly of wrenches, extensions, u-joints with a socket together.
This is critical when working over a M1 Tank engine where a dropped tool could
become a mission stopper. |
d. The tools are very durable with a nickel chrome-plated finish and are
advertised to exceed ANSI Standards.
4. LINK Tools do not have sockets except in special LINK Traditional Socket
Sets. The U.S. Army’s usage of these tools could be enhanced if there were
plans to incorporate the LINK Locking System into existing sets. Please refer
to AMSTA-AC-CTTS, Mr. Les Holmstrom, Bldg. 104, Rock Island, IL 61299-7630, for
further guidance on that subject.
5. I want to thank you sir for allowing the Iowa Army National Guard to have an
opportunity to use these state-of-the-art tools. The soldier/mechanics that
used them were very proud. Any further evaluation comments could be asked from
the soldiers themselves.
6. POC this Memorandum is CW3 R. Wesley Bender, telephone 515-252-4554.
